Is India capable to give a birthday gift to Subhas?
Subhas Chandra Bose was indeed a great martyr and was the Second President of India. Yes, I’m right – Dr. Rajendra Prasad was not first President. Rather Subhas Chandra Bose was the second to form a Government of India in exile even when our country was not free. In addition, Mahendra Pratap was the first President who formed the first Government in Exile in Afghanistan.Headquartered in Rangoon and later Bangkok, Provisional Government of Free India or Hukumat-e-Azad-Hind was recognized by no more than nine countries including Japan, Germany, Italy, Ireland, Russia, etc. However, this Government didn’t last longer and came to an end with the surrender of INA. In the legal and Government books of law, Mr. Subhas Chandra Bose was not our First President and that’s where trauma begins.
Until today, his birthday is celebrated without much recognition unlike the birthday of other important figures including Mahatma Gandhi, Pandit Nehru, Indira Gandhi, etc. Even this blog post is published some will even don’t know whether today is the birthday of Mr. SC Bose. That’s why; we’re asking whether Bharat is capable of giving a birthday gift to Netaji.
The answer will be a big NO until everyone is interested to know about Netaji, his policies, and ultimately his faith. The last one will surely leads to the prolonged mystery to the death of Netaji. The Government of India states, “he died in a plane crash on 18 August 1945 in Taihaku, Taipei, Formosa (now Taiwan).” However, earlier Government of Formosa and now Government of Taiwan had clearly stated no air crash had even took place on their soil in August 1945.
Justice Mukherjee Commission had established the same in 2005 but the commission report was brutally murdered in the Parliament by then ruling UPA Government on the traditional mere grounds of Congress that earlier one committee and one commission proved the so-called air crash theory and established the death of Mr. Bose. The then Union Home Minister Mr. Shivaji Patil just gave two sentences remark to reject the report and even didn’t provide its contents to the MPs discussing it. Nevertheless, the report was not made public and Congress had not changed its stand.
If we today discuss this matter to anyone, he/she does not care even to listen it. They says it’s matter of past and they already heard a lot of rumors regarding this. The people doesn’t have time even to give a heed to this but have plenty of time to listen and see those un-meaningful events as which have gathered high media attention.
What’s so important in it?
The story of importance of Mr. Subhas Chandra Bose started long back in 1920s, so let us look back. He was the first to coin the term “Puran Swarajay” in 1920s when he met Mahatma Gandhi first in Bombay (now Mumbai) to join the freedom struggle with him after serving resignation from ICS (Indian Civil Services) even before taking oath to be loyal to the crown and joining. He then moved to Calcutta to work under Deshbandhu C.R. Das. In his journey of life, he became the President of Congress of Haripura Session and envisioned how the India in will future will work after independent. He opposed Gandhi and his candidate in the next elections and won. Gandhi was found told that it’s not the defeat of my candidate but it’s my own defeat and that too by my misguided son. Because of Mahatma, all the members of Working Committee resigned that hearted Subhas Chandra Bose to let him resign from the Congress as a President and then as a Member. He founded Forward Bloc but failed to get rid of Gandhian factor to lead a mass movement in India and had to leave India incognito.
After obtaining no answer from Russia, his first choice, he moved to Germany and founded Indian National Army. After Japan’s invasion of Burma, Germany’s act on Jews and attack on Russia, and Hitler’s stick view for his plans, he moved to Japan again incognito in a submarine. Moving to Singapore, he took the leadership of Indian National Army from Mr. Ras Bihari Bose. He founded the first Provisional Government of Free India as a President and performed following things.
- Recruited Ministers and Consultants from both Army and Civilian
- Gained recognition from other countries
- Founded a Reserve Bank
- Published Currency Notes
- Had INA as its army
- Declared war against Britain and the United States
After his memorable speech in Southeast Asia Conference, Japanese Prime Minister transferred the already won Andaman & Nicobar and Lakshadweep Islands to His Majesty Subhas Chandra Bose. He visited these territories and renamed them to Shaheed and Swaraj islands.
Under his leadership, INA fought bravely and reached Kohima and Imphal. However, the Japan was losing the war in Pacific to the US and then dropping of nuclear bombs stopped the winning wheels of Japanese Army and INA. Both had to retreat first from India, and then Burma. Millions of INA soldiers died and millions had surrendered to British Indian Army. Subhas with his four soldiers and one Japanese Colonel stepped back to Russia under the foul play of his death in air crash. Surrendered INA personnel were brought back to Bharat for trials but subsequently released.
Succeeding of Subhas
And finally, Subhas succeeded in his attempts to land his trained soldiers safely in India as his previous agents were being caught even before they got success to inspire others for a firm inside struggle. His soldiers as per his instructions transpired his message to gunfire the Indian Struggle. This struggle resulted into the Great Mutiny in Royal Indian Navy and Indian Army in 1946. This mutiny along with the news of establishing Red Asia Liberation Force by Subhas in Russia forced the then British Government to plan their exit.
With the order of British Prime Minister Clement Attlee and former PM Winston Churchill, Lord Mountbatten was sent as the last Lord Governor of British Raj to transfer the power to the major political parties with largest seats in the Assembly – Congress and Muslim League as their successors.
Conclusion of British
As per the then British Prime Minister Clement Attlee, it was the violent movement of His Majesty Subhas Chandra Bose and his INA movement leading to mutinies in Indian Navy and Indian Army that forced them to free India peacefully. Gandhi’s non-violent movements were controllable and have no adverse effects rather.
What’s the issue now?
Even though Subhas Chandra Bose had played a major role in bringing Indian Independence, still there is no proper legacy and even respect for him. Instead of calling him His Majesty and identifying him as the First President of India, the Government of India had not even put his statue or photograph in the Parliament until 1978. Subhas Chandra Bose doesn’t want your money, but he only wants your attention to finalize his fate and let the people know what has happened to him after 1945.
How it can be achieved?
Government of India, Government of Bengal, Government of Uttar Pradesh, and Government of Orissa has hundreds of files marked as Top Secret and are not ready to reveal them. As per them, revealing these will create law & order problems leading to a danger to the national security. How the hell in the world the files related to a man who’s declared dead in 1945 will raise chaos. In addition, the foreign countries including Russia, China, Vietnam, Japan, Britain, Taiwan, and the United States had kept hundreds of secret records in their official archives related to Netaji.
Earlier Indian Government had sent unsigned and unstamped verbal notes to Government of Russia but they sent no information. Government of India should send duly signed and stamped Official Letters along with political pressures on these nations to reveal all the documents related to Netaji.
In the next post, we’ll discuss a better solution to this problem.
