Arjuna Versus Ashoka

Several years ago, columnist Mr. S. Gurumurthy has mentioned in one of his articles in Indian Express, that Arjuna and Ashoka  declared peace only after registering their victory over their enemies.

People often misinterpret the Bhagwat Gita as a message to spread peace.  To preach peace Lord Krishna need not have chosen to drive the chariot in the war field and teach Arjuna to realize his

responsibilities and rights.  His message was not only to register one’s right but also to teach a lesson to

the wrong doers and to limit the size of  or nullify the evil forces.  The Gita has not asked to wait with patience with an unrealistic hope of  the evils to settle on their own and allow the righteous to have its rightful place.

Similarly, had Ashoka preached peace, he would have confined himself within his small domain of a tiny province.  He developed, widened his empire by conquering other provinces by establishing his power through wars over them and proved his might.  After reaching the optimum level, he said NO FURTHER WAR.  Because had shown his might to the world and hence revealed his satiation.

Both have not declared any Panch Sheel as a state policy and pronounced themselves as mighty.  The Gandhi- Nehru combine in the name of peace, further fooled the people, after independence.  Their work was made easy because, they have already made the people cowards by constantly feeding the ahimsa theory for a continuous thirty years.

Because of that, the GOI is still asking for handing over the dreaded terrorists and master minds like a

Dawood Ibrahim or Hafees Sayeed, and accept if the Pakistan  government is telling that they are not in their country, while at the same time they are speaking to the electronic media frequently.

The Indian government should display its strength to the world.
